About Medfield, MA
The town of Medfield, Massachusetts, incorporated in 1651, is one of the oldest communities in the Greater Boston area and has a history that stretches back nearly four centuries. Known for its strong sense of community and classic New England character, Medfield has long combined small-town charm with a deep appreciation for history, culture, and the outdoors.
Medfield’s story is one of resilience and growth. The town endured great hardship during King Philip’s War in 1676, when much of it was burned, yet it rebuilt and thrived in the centuries that followed. Many of Medfield’s historic homes and landmarks still stand today, reflecting its colonial heritage. Among its most notable historic sites is the Peak House, a rare surviving example of early 17th-century English architecture in America, which was originally constructed in 1651 and rebuilt after the war.
Throughout its history, Medfield has nurtured a balance of tradition and progress. The town is home to the Medfield State Hospital Historic District, which has been revitalized as a cultural and recreational destination, hosting concerts, festivals, and community events. Medfield also boasts a thriving arts scene, with the Zullo Gallery and Cultural Alliance of Medfield supporting local artists and performances.
Surrounded by conservation land and open spaces, Medfield offers residents and visitors miles of trails, scenic landscapes, and easy access to the Charles River. Its excellent schools, active civic organizations, and close-knit neighborhoods make it a sought-after community for families, professionals, and retirees alike.
Today, Medfield continues to represent the best of New England living: historic yet forward-looking, peaceful yet vibrant, deeply rooted yet welcoming to newcomers.
Why Medfield Residents Choose Movement Center of Medfield
As the town’s name suggests, the Movement Center of Medfield is proud to be deeply connected to this community. For local residents, our studio isn’t just another place to take fitness classes — it’s a trusted part of daily life, where health, wellness, and community come together under one roof.
Unlike large health clubs that offer only cookie-cutter Pilates classes, we provide a more personalized and therapeutic approach. At our studio, you’ll find not only reformer and mat Pilates in small group and private settings, but also access to the Gyrotonic Method, a unique system that takes movement and strength to the next level. This approach blends the best of mindful exercise and targeted conditioning, often giving clients results that go beyond traditional fitness — with benefits similar to, and in many cases better than, physical therapy for posture, alignment, and functional movement.
What truly sets the Movement Center of Medfield apart is the way we weave expertise with community spirit. Our instructors know our clients by name, and our studio reflects the same close-knit, welcoming energy that makes Medfield itself so special. Residents value the chance to improve their health without leaving town, while being part of a local community dedicated to well-being.
For Medfield residents, the Movement Center isn’t just nearby — it’s home.

Honest Reviews From Our Clients

Ever think of transforming your body, I mean really transforming your body, from the inside out on a cellular level as well as a muscular one? As a retired woman 65 next month who has been exercising for years, yoga of all types, PILATES, reformer, Zumba, I can tell you that although I didn’t expect that, and I wasn’t promised that, I have noticed a difference in my posture, body awareness, and even confidence since I have been working with Deborah Saparoff.
I had heard of GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® in San Diego where I spent the winter. New to Massachusetts, I joined some meetups based on my interest, fitness, Italian, theatre, are, and I found Deborah. It is a 28 mile ride each way and worth the drive and the energy. When you look at Deborah, right before your eyes you have a model of balance, grace, and form.
When she models the very difference spiraling techniques and breathing, one opens up gradually, which is evident in one’s added range of motion and the “feeling” of greater space and height.
I always say after a session, I feel like a million bucks! It is truly powerful work! I recommend Deborah Saparoff unequivocally as an inspirational master teacher.

I have scoliosis, with kyphosis and deep lordosis. My back used to be hunched and in constant chronic pain. As a result I had very limited range of motion and an injury in my left shoulder due to lack of proper muscular strength/support. There was very little that physical therapy and other conventional therapeutic methods had done and could still do. As a result my best course of action had become massage therapy weekly to alleviate some of the deepest pain I was experiencing.
Since I was introduced to GYROTONIC®, about seven years ago, despite my mature age (I was 70 years old at the time) my body became a process of slow but deep/consistent transformation. I remember that since the very first lesson with Deborah, I felt the benefits. ! no longer suffer back pain, I am able to move my spine with control and deep support. I enjoy movement again and a sense of freedom and ease that practicing the GYROTONIC® Method brings to my life. I am 77 years young now!

I got so much out of the training you provided me. The experience was unique in my life – I literally learned new ways of moving and consequently new ways of being. It was GYROTONIC® itself, your amazing skill and the joy you clearly exude in your work. I think the training has given me a lasting benefit for example we are doing a lot of hiking and I am free of the back aches that used to plague me from that sort of thing before. Wanted to say thank you.

Multiple sclerosis has altered my life in many ways, and while there are a plethora of negative symptoms of the disease, I am lucky to have been introduced to Deborah Saparoff and her GYROTONIC® exercise regimen. Specifically designed for people who have experienced the negative physical effects of injuries, diseases, etc., the exercises that Deborah has introduced me to with the GYROTONIC® system have had a positive impact on my life.
